Overview
If your EFTPOS terminal is not connecting or appears offline, follow the steps below to confirm connectivity and restore operation before commencing work. Connection issues can occur intermittently, so it is recommended to perform these checks at the start of each day.
Daily Pre-Start Check
Before processing any transactions:
- Confirm the Linkly icon is active
- Look for the green “C” icon in the Windows taskbar (system tray).
- This indicates the Linkly service is running and ready.
- Attempt to log in to the EFTPOS terminal
- If login is successful, the terminal is online and ready for use.
If the Green “C” Icon Is Missing
If the icon is not visible:
- Restart the computer
- Rebooting forces the Linkly services to restart.
- Wait for the computer to fully load.
- Recheck the taskbar
- Confirm the green “C” icon appears after reboot.
- Test the terminal again
- Attempt to log in to confirm connectivity.
If the Terminal Still Does Not Connect
If issues persist after reboot:
- Ensure the terminal and cables are powered on and securely connected.
- Confirm network connectivity (if applicable).
- Allow a few minutes after startup for services to initialise.
- Restart the EFTPOS terminal by holding down the yellow and blue buttons until the terminal restarts.
- If still offline, contact IT support.
System Configuration Notes
- All machines should have the latest Linkly software installed.
- Terminals are configured to communicate with the central EFTPOS server.
- Manual reconfiguration by users is not required.
Important Guidance
- Due to known reliability issues, users must proactively verify their terminals are operational each morning.
- Do not begin processing payments until connectivity is confirmed.
- Reverting to older terminal processes may not be permitted due to financial controls.
When to Escalate
Contact IT support if:
- The green “C” icon does not appear after a reboot
- The terminal repeatedly drops offline
- Login to the terminal fails despite the icon being active
- Multiple machines in the area are affected
