Teams should start up as soon as you turn your computer on as it is one of the startup apps.
To sign into TEAMS you use your work email address and password for signing into your computer.
STATUS:
Teams will show your status in your initials there is a small circle at the bottom right-hand corner. This usually comes from your calendar but you can manually change the Status by right clicking on your initials, then clicking the down arrow beside the current status and choosing the appropriate status which will show up on other computers in either chats, meetings or invites:
How to set up a TEAMS online meeting:
You can Schedule a meeting from the Teams Tab on the left-hand side.
Click the arrow beside the ‘Meet’ button on the right-hand side and select ‘Schedule a meeting’.
Fill out the relevant information.
Click the ‘Send’ button on the top right-hand corner.
FILES:
You can add files to TEAMS for others to use and open at the same time, this solves the problem of documents being locked and other staff not being able to access them.
Click on the TEAMS button on the right-hand menu, then click on the Files tab across the top and from there you can either create a new document, Upload a document from you computer or shared drive, download, check out and other options as well.
If there is a file already there, you can view it by clicking on the file name, if the file hasn't been checked out you can make changes to that file and it will sync. This document will have most of the same functionality as using it on the desktop app has.
Check out / Check in a document:
You can edit a document without anyone else being able to make changes to it while you are editing it. From the Teams tab, select Files, then select the relevant document.
Across the top, click the three dots and click ‘Check out’ when you have finished making changes it’s the same process to check in the document again.
CHAT FUNCTION:
In order to start a chat with someone in the organisation, click the Chat button on the left-hand menu then click the New Chat button:
Then in the To: section type the name of the person you would like to start a chat with and select from the list that appears below it:
Then type your message in the message box at the bottom of the screen and press the send button to send it.
